Our festival home has two beautiful new halls, an intimate recital hall, and a large hall, pictured below. Both are equipped with new American and German Steinway concert pianos and the latest technology for teaching and recording.

We offer abundant student and faculty free concerts, and delight in our LEGACY series

Exploring Legacy is about carrying the light forward for piano traditions. Legacy has many facets but is always about young and older pianists from all over the world coming together to explore the many voices of the piano, an aural history. Teaching and performing traditions change over time. Often while moving forward from one century to the next, old and cherished traditions are lost while new ones arrive. Our Legacy classes visit with giants of the keyboard, eminent pianists and pedagogues who have the unique and privileged vantage point of age and wisdom spanning a century or more. We share personal stories, the golden age of piano and the art of piano playing in video, and live recitals and masterclasses.

RPPF Ambassador Performing Series

Showcase Concerts

The Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival and Friends of Piano is dedicated to helping all RPPF participants and alumni with individual performance and career goals. The Ambassador Performing Series, inaugurated in 2013, presents RPPF pianists in concert throughout the Tampa Bay area in many different performance venues during the course of RPPF and RPPF-Mini. Also included are performances at WUSF FM radio live. Our goal is to help fine young pianists find their unique and distinctive niche in the world of music. All pianists accepted into RPPF or RPPF-Mini are able to take part in the Ambassador Series. RPPF Showcase Concerts are held at USF and are weekend events. They feature RPPF pianists in a more formal setting followed by a reception. A complete summer listing of free concerts is available here.

Our annual Extravaganza showcases what pianists and pianos do for fun.

The music is light-hearted and combines original and arranged works.

It was such an honor to work with everyone this summer at RPPF. Thanks to all the faculty members and staff who gave us such terrific support. Each teacher taught us so many different smart and efficient ways for practicing, and how to be a better musician. I also learned many new ways to think about music and life. I felt so lucky to be with so many awesome pianists. Special thanks goes to Professor Rebecca Penneys. You are a great mentor in my life. RPPF is just like a family-- helping each other and learning from one other. I take away so many wonderful memories. I will miss you all!
